You may have heard about the Highlands Together We Decide campaign, a grant-funded community resiliency program in Highland Falls and Fort Montgomery. One of the organizers of the program, Olga Anderson, was at last week’s Highlands Town Board meeting to give an update.
She wants community residents to know that they may soon get a mailer with “eight very concrete projects” listed that they would like some public input on.
“We’re asking for people to vote for their top three,” she said, “and then get the ballot back to us.” She said there would be boxes around the community to drop the filled-out ballots in, and two days to “vote in person”, the evening of Tuesday, April 7 at the Highland Falls Library and midday on Saturday, April 11 at the library.
She gave the Town Board a teaser of the projects – a bi-lingual cultural/teen/community center; a spotlight on local outdoor recreational activities like historic walking tours or public hike ‘adventure days; and more citizen ‘advisory’ committees to local municipal boards.
